Description:
To install willow spiling bank revetment, faggot installation and backfill with soil and a formal timber board revetment.
Approach: Willowbank was approached by the client, and after discussion several revetment techniques were suggested and agreed for different parts of the river bank. After liaison with the Environment Agency a consent application was submitted. Willowbank installed the design.
Maintenance: The revetment solutions worked well particularly the spiling, there was plenty of light and Willowbank did the first years maintenance. The council maintained it well afterwards and trimmed the willow growth to 1m high. Willowbank selected the correct varieties of willow for disease resistance and also not too vigorous growth
